Ingredients

  • 2 cups raw peanuts

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • ½ cup water

Directions

  • Combine the peanuts, sugar and water in a medium saucepan.
  • Place over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Continue cooking while stirring continuously. As the liquid evaporates, the sugar will begin to crystallise and coat the peanuts.
  • Keep stirring until all of the liquid has evaporated and the peanuts are evenly coated in a dry, sugary coating.
  • Remove from the heat and spread the peanuts onto baking paper or a tray to cool completely before serving.

Kitchen Notes

  • Continue stirring throughout the cooking process to prevent the sugar from catching on the base of the saucepan.
  • Contains peanuts, so this recipe is not suitable for nut-free lunchboxes or childcare settings.
